Diploma in Aviation

Diploma in Aviation

(incorporating NZIM Diploma in Management)

An excellent opportunity to earn a double qualification giving you a competitive advantage in the employment market.

Many areas in aviation are fertile ground for qualified pilots with business management skills – national airlines, regional airlines, tourist operations, air charter, flight instruction and agricultural flying.

This two-year course allows you to concurrently achieve Private and Commercial Pilot Licences, as well as the Diploma in Aviation and the NZIM Diploma in Management.

The Diploma in Aviation component of the course is provided by Southern Wings. It includes personalised ground and flight training in Southland’s uncluttered airspace. You can expect to encounter a variety of spectacular terrain, including mountains, which will provide you with a broad skill base.

The Diploma of Aviation is available to both fixed wing and rotary wing students. Classes are strictly limited to 12 students per class to ensure high standards of instruction are maintained.

By taking additional management papers and cross crediting from your Diploma of Aviation, you can gain a secondary qualification – the Diploma in Management. The Southern Institute of Technology in Invercargill hosts the Diploma in Management content of the course, which is a nationally recognised qualification of the New Zealand Institute of Management.
