Southern Wings was born and bred in Southland. We have operated out of Invercargill since 1935 and it continues to be our flagship base. Training in Southland offers the unique advantage of long daylight hours, uncluttered airspace and mountain flying. With Invercargill’s proximity to the sea and the Southern Alps, it enjoys a variety of weather, (a good pilot needs to gain experience in all weather). Invercargill and the surrounding region provides this experience. Invercargill boasts a lower cost of living without compromising lifestyle, if you love no traffic, getting to the airport in 5 minutes, hunting, fishing, skiing and sports in general, then this is your place.

Our  Invercargill flight school facilities include one dedicated classroom, a large meeting room, two briefing rooms, a flight planning room and a large bar lounge area where students and staff can relax and talk about their day aviating.
